Structural Integrity Assessments

Structural Integrity Assessments undertaken after a fire event are best done from the perspective of a detailed understanding of fire dynamics and experimental test data. Greencap personnel have the experience and expertise necessary to undertake specialist investigations.
Fires can result in the reduction of strength and stiffness for exposed structures and a weakening of the building. Structural Integrity assessments require a sound knowledge of the effects of elevated temperatures and cooling on materials such as steel and concrete and also an understanding of the factors important for structural stability.

These investigations require an understanding of:

  • Relating incidents to fire severity and heating characteristics
  • Determining the temperature achieved by the structure
  • Determining the effect of these temperatures on the strength and stiffness of the structure
  • Assessing the impact on the stability of the building or its ability to resist the effects of a fire
