WHS Regulations stipulate that it is the duty of persons conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) to ensure that workers are able to work in a safe environment. To meet these standards, assessment of indoor air quality, dust, temperature, mould, testing for legionellae and other contaminants should be performed.

Commonly operating out of large facilities, businesses in the Retail, Wholesale and Distribution industry are faced with challenges in meeting satisfactory safety requirements particularly within ageing infrastructure where exposure to contaminants like asbestos and other hazardous materials is likely. The correct identification, planning and removal of asbestos is of chief importance prior to refurbishment works, as the disruptive nature of the projects can release the harmful fibres into the air.

The distribution network of a business also requires an understanding of Chain of Responsibility and the implementation of control measures to ensure safety and accountability at each level of the chain.

Working with a range of stakeholders to complete business objectives requires appropriate management of each party to ensure safe practices are followed. Contractor/ subcontractor management requires specific protocols to ensure that workers and the surrounding public are protected from harm. Greencap’s online induction products assist with meeting legislative duty of care to ensure that WHS capabilities and practices are current.

Greencap understand that the protection of employee safety is at the pinnacle of a business’ interest. Preparing for an emergency situation can enable better safety outcomes in the event of an emergency with the facilitation Greencap’s evacuation and warden training and availability of visible emergency diagrams.
