Keeping Campers Safe – Greencap Undertakes Pro-Bono ESM Audit for Lord Somers Camp
Lord Somers Camp is a registered not-for-profit organisation that operates its historic, near century-old camp site an hour south of Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsula.
Behind the scenes of this beloved destination for groups from schools and community groups, there are many systems and risk factors that need to be managed in order to maintain the facility’s accreditation to the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program and ensure the safety of staff and visitors.
As COVID-19 restrictions across Victoria have eased, Greencap was able to undertake the camp’s annual Essential Safety Measures (ESM) audit on a pro-bono basis, checking off and confirming that important emergency response infrastructure has been adequately maintained over the course of the preceding year and are fit for purpose. With systems audited and corrective actions checked off, Lord Somers Camp is able to safely welcome campers and community members over the summer holiday period and throughout the new year.
"The communities we serve at Lord Somers Camp benefit enormously from any pro-bono work undertaken at Somers, and the value of the work extends well beyond the cost. We are incredibly grateful for the support of Greencap and I sincerely appreciate their very generous donation in what has been a very difficult year. Onwards to 2021 and a further strengthened Greencap/Lord Somers Camp relationship"
