NATA Accreditation for Greencap’s Perth Laboratory

25 November 2021

Sample Analysis in Greencap Laboratory - Greencap’s Perth Laboratory now has NATA Accreditation

Greencap is pleased to announce, that as of 3 September 2021, the Perth Laboratory has been granted its standalone NATA Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 Chemical Testing, site 24832.

The Perth Lab has capabilities to offer NATA Accredited asbestos fibre counting, synthetic mineral fibre counting and sample volume measurement.

The additional capability to offer analysis of air monitoring on-site helps Greencap’s clients receive results quicker and keeps the project process simple. This service complements business clearances, all in-house and under one roof.

Greencap Perth’s HazMat team offers a full-service range of asbestos and hazardous materials targeted sampling, full audits, management plans and abatement project management. The ISO/IEC 17020 inspection accreditation for HazMat surveying will extend its footprint nationally.

Is the property safe for occupancy?

The Perth lab has been working on obtaining individual NATA Accreditation for over a year, as due to Covid restrictions, NATA could not send a team out to conduct an audit. Therefore, the Perth office was sitting under the Sydney accreditation during this time.

The Perth office can now offer the following services to determine if a property is safe for occupancy:

  • Identification of asbestos and hazardous materials
  • Background monitoring
  • Measuring exposure after an incident, and more.

These integrate into current practices and existing offerings in Western Australia. The excellence of the Perth lab is enhanced by the NATA Accreditation, giving peace of mind at sensitive sites, such as schools, hospitals, aged care, and general construction and demolition sites.

In-house capabilities improve client experience

Various compliances, audits, calibrations and reviews were done by multiple parties during the process, as NATA reviewed Greencap’s competency as analysts on site, and checked documentation processes accordingly.

“I wanted to congratulate the Perth team on such a great job. Especially Simon Day, Matthias Shim, and Jess Brunner. Holly Kitamura in the Wollongong office also helped immensely,” said Ross Connell, Team Manager for HazMat in Western Australia.

“The Perth Laboratory can do everything in-house now, whereas prior there were parts of the process that had to be done elsewhere. Adding the NATA stamp to a Perth location helps us streamline the overall client experience,” he added.
