National Safe Work Month - Working Safer in 2020
October is National Safe Work Month - a time for businesses in Australia to make a commitment to improving safety and health in the workplace. The theme for 2020 is "Work Health and Safety through COVID-19" - acknowledging and reflects the wide-reaching impacts of COVID-19 on Australian businesses, employers and workers.
This National Safe Work Month, Greencap is celebrating the adaptations and developments that have allowed the team to work safer in 2020.
Health & Safety
Greencap’s Health & Safety practice have been at the forefront of many developments across the business and, since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, have rapidly implemented adjustments to ensure the continued meeting of client expectations and delivery on the KPIs for major contracts, all while keeping team members and our clients safe.
Many of the learnings and continuous improvement initiatives that began as COVID adaptations have now transitioned into standard methodologies employed by the Greencap team. An example of this is the leveraging of internal digital capabilities to embed virtual Health & Safety auditing processes as an alternative to onsite auditing. This has multiple safety benefits to the team, our clients and the community, including:
- Improved physical distancing during the pandemic
- Reduced need for remote travel
- Reduced exposure to site-based hazards
Booking processes and testing methodologies have also been enhanced using digital platforms and rigorous site protocols for specific services such as respirator fit testing. This has facilitated more robust pre-test checks to verify that clients are ‘COVID-free’ and then maintain physical distancing during works. This protects the safety of the team at all stages of the work which has a flow on community benefit.
TrimEVAC Emergency Management
TrimEVAC have been proactive in identifying client needs and ensuring the delivery of Emergency Management Services that comply with the various and changing government restrictions applied at the different stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, whilst also keeping team members and clients safe.
Where practical, TrimEVAC have offered services such as ECO training and compliance audits where the experienced emergency management consultants utilise web-based delivery methods that have ensured direct and relevant contact with clients, combined with the ability to adapt and respond to current needs and questions as they arise.
The adoption of technologies during the pandemic has provided opportunity and the development of innovative methods to deliver services and meet the requirements of Standards.
Some of the benefits that TrimEVAC's clients have realised so far are:
- Increased flexibility – Timing and location
- Reduced travel costs – Regional and remote sites
- Delivery options for training – Face to face, web-based, online
- Refocusing on Emergency Management during disruption to normal business activities
The delivery of Emergency Management Services continues to evolve with the ongoing pandemic. TrimEVAC has retained its highly experienced team and is continuing to adapt using new technologies and methods to improve our ability to meet client expectations.
